Bowers & Wilkins

There are moments in music when you just want to be there. When the impulse to be part of a recording, of an event in your musical history, takes hold. Moments when the emotional connection between the performer and the audience is tantalizingly close, and their joy, sadness, anger or passion becomes yours as well. The more lifelike the sound, the more alive that connection can become. The very best sound systems will reconstruct the acoustic environment and put you where you want to be. Don’t settle for less than the closest you can get.

Nautilus

Now recognized as a design classic, the original Bowers & Wilkins Nautilus™ is not just our flagship product, but the very pinnacle of technological innovation to which all others must aspire. It is the result of a groundbreaking, five year research and development programme to achieve, as near as possible, the perfect loudspeaker. The Bowers & Wilkins Nautilus is recognized worldwide as an outstanding loudspeaker which continues to shape the direction of the audio industry to this day. Much sought after by cognoscenti, it has been unashamedly designed with the serious audiophile in mind, not only because of its size and shape but also because of its active design – the crossover network is positioned between the pre and power amplifiers.

800 Series Diamond

One material sums up Bowers & Wilkins' quest for perfection in sound reproduction more than any other. Diamond. It’s the ultimate tweeter material – and the magic ingredient in our flagship 800 Series Diamond. It’s part of the reason why 800 Series speakers have become legendary among professional recording studios and serious sound enthusiasts alike. And now, for the first time, you can hear the incredible precision and clarity of diamond in every speaker in the range. The very best just got even better. And perfection just got even closer.

PM1

Carbon Braced Tweeter: With a break-up frequency of 30kHz, our aluminium dome tweeters already push sound quality well above the upper limits of the audible range. But inspired by what we’ve learned about diamond, we wanted to see if we could do even better for the PM1. The result is an entirely new type of tweeter dome. By bracing the dome with a ring of filament-wound carbon fibre, we’ve raised the break-up frequency of aluminium to 40kHz.

CM Series

Pure and Simple. By using our most refined drive unit technologies, developed for reference-standard speakers such as the 800 Series Diamond, we've been able to hone the speaker down to its purest essentials. The CM Series uses minimalist crossovers of remarkable simplicity and quality, so what you hear is that much closer to the sound of the original recording. In its functional perfection and understated elegance, it's nothing less than a masterpiece. Pure and simple.

600 Series

In all our 600 Series midrange/bass units the distinctive yellow woven Kevlar® cone snuffs out the kind of concentric standing waves that build up in standard, homogenous cones, while a light, airy ‘open’ chassis cuts down echo from behind the cone. But, to the midrange of the three-way 683 speaker, we’ve been able to add something even more special. We call it ‘fixed suspension transducer’ or FST™ for short. It sounds complex, but it’s not. It’s simple, and it sounds wonderful, but until now it has only been seen in Bowers & Wilkins audiophile ranges, such as the 800 Series Diamond.

Subwoofers

Bowers & Wilkins’ wide range of subwoofer brings together some of the most advanced bass technology in the business. Our innovations in cabinet construction and digital control have changed the way people look at bass and raised the bar for enjoying movie sound in the home.   Whether you require a subwoofer as the crowning glory of a high-end home theatre system, to complement the performance of a pair of bookshelf stereo loudspeakers or as part of one of our Mini Theatre systems, we have the solution for you.

Mini Theatre

A Beautiful Whole
For us, a movie is only great if it adds up to more than the sum of its parts. The parts have to be good - an original storyline, great dialogue, flesh-and-blood characters bold directing - but to create movie magic they have to be brought together in a way that people will warm to and want to see over and over again. We felt we should keep this in mind when we designed the Bowers & Wilkins M-1. Small it may be, but the M-1 is brimming with innovative acoustic engineering. From the inside out, it has been conceived as a unified system delivering superlative sound, looks and ease of use. Starting on a blank sheet of paper, its design evolved in a totally integrated way, from the tube-loaded tweeter and woven bass to driver cone to the two-piece cabinet and concealed cabling.

Panorama

Widescreen for your Ears
Good things don’t always come in big packages. Take your TV for instance. For years, the television has been getting slimmer, flatter, more streamlined while producing a picture quality that’s better than ever before. Sound is a different story. To experience cinema-like sound at home, you need to buy several bulky speakers, taking up space in different positions in the room. That is, until now. Panorama adds a whole new dimension to home entertainment, bringing truly immersive surround sound to your TV from a single, discreet speaker. Movies, music and games come to life in a way you never thought possible. You won’t believe what a big difference a small box can make.

Flat Panel Monitors

Designed with a minimalist sensibility, Bowers & Wilkins’ Flat Panel Monitors posses a poise and elegance all too rare in high-end home theatre and hi-fi components. Just as plasma and LCD TV screens offer high-resolution, distortion-free images from an ultra-slimline frame, FPMs deliver superlative sound with minimal interference to the room’s decor and traffic. Appropriately shallow and with a choice of heights to match popular flat screen dimensions, their visual and physical presence has been reduced to the bare minimum. The listening experience, however, has lost nothing.

Custom Installation

For some people, the mere sight of a speaker, no matter how well designed, is enough to cause palpitations. It’s for precisely this clientele that we have pursued the notion of custom installation loudspeakers, which can be carefully hidden into walls or ceilings and, where necessary, disguised to be as hard-to- detect as possible. Four separate ranges comprise Bowers & Wilkins Custom Installation. CI 700 offers the best sounding installation speakers we've ever produced. CI 600 sound amazing, too, but are more affordable, while the Classic series features a host of proven classics. The Weatherproof range allows you to take your music outdoors, into the sauna, or even onto the sea.

Custom Theatre

If you’re serious about home cinema, you’ll need a seriously good cinema sound system. It doesn’t get any better than Custom Theatre from Bowers & Wilkins. Drawing from our most advanced technologies, the Custom Theatre ranges are designed with one aim in mind: to lift you out of your seat and throw you into the heart of the action. Both the CT 800 and CT 700 ranges deliver movie sound like you've only heard in your wildest dreams. It’s the authentic private cinema experience in your own home. Popcorn not included.

P3

P3 combines pristine audio performance with maximum wearability. These slimline headphones fit lightly and snugly on your head, and fold up to stow away in your pocket or their own hard-shell carry case. And they produce a remarkably natural, detailed sound on the move, thanks to some major technological innovations that reduce distortion to a minimum.

P5

Get closer to your favorite music wherever you are with P5, the noise-isolating headphones from the makers of the Zeppelin iPod speaker. Drawing on 45 years of Bowers & Wilkins hi-fi innovation and expertise, P5 brings you remarkably natural and highly detailed sound on the move, and a luxuriously comfortable fit that makes longer listening sessions a pleasure. Think of it as your own personal concert - to go. Some headphone makers like to mess around with sound. At Bowers & Wilkins, that's a job we prefer to leave to the studio engineers. With P5, the sound you hear is completely natural – as close to the sound of the original recording as we can possibly take you. We call it true sound. You'll know it as soon as you hear it.

C5

C5 noise-isolating in-ear headphones bring you amazingly natural acoustics and fit so comfortably and securely you’ll hardly be aware you’re wearing them. Our unique Micro Porous Filter system makes sure that sound is open, spacious and full of rich, lifelike detail. So you can truly lose yourself in unadulterated sound, even when you’re on the move. They feature our innovative Secure Loop design – loops of plastic-coated wire that curl around the inner rim of your ears and hold the in-ear headphones firmly in place. The C5s are also Tungsten Balanced, meaning that the headphones are weighted towards your ears, rather than away from them, for optimized noise isolation. C5’s MFI remote and microphone make the headphones the perfect match for your iPod® or iPhone®. They also come with a quilted carrying pouch.

Zeppelin Air

Zeppelin is an iPod docking station that fills a room with crisp, deep, lifelike stereo sound, and delivers musical detail that you won’t believe your iPod is capable of. That’s because the two have so much in common: blissfully simple design and world-leading technologies that let you get the most out of your music. Zeppelin is an integrated iPod docking station from the people who manufacture the speakers that much of the music on your iPod will have been made using. Bowers & Wilkins creates technologies and systems that world-leading studios depend on and that find their way into the Zeppelin, its first iPod speaker. This is the iPod docking station your music has been waiting for!

Zeppelin Mini

We’ve done it again. It wasn't long ago that Zeppelin revolutionised the way we listen to our iPods, sweeping away the competition and scooping just about every award going for its incredible sound and sleek looks. And now it’s back. Only this time, it’s smaller. With Zeppelin Mini, you get everything you love about Zeppelin – advanced acoustic technology, intelligent design, elegant connectivity – in a streamlined, compact sound dock package that’s perfect for desktops and bedside tables. Because even when your space is limited, it doesn’t mean your sound has to be.

MM-1

MM-1s aren’t like other computer speakers. They’re true hi-fi speakers, shrunk to fit on your desktop. So they don’t just look great – they sound amazing, transforming your computer into a superb hi-fi stereo sound system. But then you’d expect nothing less from the makers of the award-winning Zeppelin iPod speaker, not to mention some of the most advanced studio speakers in the world.

  • This is a collection of music professionals talking about the new B&W 800 Series.

  • B&W 802D Speakers

The B&W 802D loudspeakers came to play. It brings the musical performance into the room, right in front of the listener, rather than opening a window on a performance happening in some other, more distant space. Such powerful immediacy without glare or stridency is a thrilling and untiring aspect of all B&W speakers.

    B&W 803D Speaker System

This series of B&W speakers are a prime example of the successful manifestation of build and design principle into sonic reality in the listening room. But the pure enjoyment and excitement that this system delivered is probably the ultimate compliment I can pay it. This B&W speaker system was as enveloping, exhilarating, and flat-out enjoyable as any speaker system I've ever heard.

    B&W 804S Floor-Standing Speakers and HTM3S Center Channel Speaker

Well, the verdict is in. Of all the speakers made throughout the world, for those that I have listened to, B&W speakers remain some of my favorites. Their powerful, yet smooth, sound reminds me of some of my other preferred designs, namely, ribbons and ESLs. In particular, the HTM3S is one of the best center channel speakers out there.

    TONE Audio

The 805D series B&W speakers are a tour de force of style and technology in a compact package. Whether you are buying a pair as your main speakers in a high-performance two-channel system or a multichannel setup, you'll find that they offer up performance well beyond their small size. While I missed purchasing the last version, I didn't let the 805D's get away.

    B&W CM-7 Speakers

Ever notice the way cheap audio gear usually gives you controls with names like “spatial expander” and “hyper bass” to, well, hype up the sound, whereas top-of-the-line gear is typically devoid of such controls? While I suppose many would argue that a cheap system usually needs a little sonic goosing at the top and bottom to sound good, I feel it has more to do with the system’s ability, or lack thereof, to deliver an accurate and articulate mid- range performance. While foundation- shifting bass and a soaring top end might keep the kiddies impressed for a few minutes, it’s that vast stretch of octaves in between that really separates the men from the boys when it comes to delivering knockout audio performance.

    B&W CT-800 Speakers

As Kong and his dinosaur antagonists clomp about clumsily, the CT800 from B&W speakers pounds right along, shaking the entire theater with each of the giant ape’s thunderous steps. It’s louder than my ears can stand for long, but I hear not a trace of distortion or harshness.

Bowers & Wilkins CT 700 Series Loudspeakers Reviewed

What Bowers & Wilkins have done with their entire CT Series, specifically the CT 700s reviewed here, comes closer to bridging the gap between the filmmaker and the home viewer than any speaker I've encountered before them. They convincingly recreate a true home theatre movie experience, provided you can accommodate their unique installation demands or don't mind their control room-chic look. Looking back on my time spent with the CT 700s, no other speakers, and we did use a number of various brands, got us closer and made us feel more comfortable going to the final stages of locking the sound than these classy B&W speakers did.

    B&W 684 Speakers

The B&W 684 was a treat to have in my system. It was nice to have a well-designed, very affordable speaker on hand to deflate my speaker snobbery. The speaker's performance as a whole surprised me, and the detailed smoothness of its midrange wowed me.

    B&W 683 Speakers

The 683 is the top model in B&W’s most recent incarnation of the entry-level 600 Series. It’s not a speaker range to be taken lightly, especially given that B&W is one of the largest dedicated loudspeaker makers in the world and thus one of the biggest players in the audiophile market.

    B&W M-1 and PV1

It might be difficult to endorse the M-1’s audiophile pretensions with real enthusiasm, but it’s very easy to like and enjoy – it’s exceptionally neat and discreet, and relatively inexpensive too. And that’s praise-worthy in a very small satellite speaker.
